Happy is the newest rescue pup joining the mission. Adopted from Stafford County Animal Shelter at 8 weeks old, she’s already proving what we believe at the heart of Pawfect Partners: when a dog is given love, structure, and a purpose, they don’t just heal they help others heal too.
Meet Happy
We wanted to expand our nonprofit’s reach so more people could spend time with a working dog not just Honey. Then something special happened… and Happy found her way to us.
A magical second-chance story
We had been talking about adding another dog to maximize our reach because when there are more teams, more people get a turn with the animals, and we can affect more people.
We visited the shelter about a week earlier and didn’t find the right fit. Then I was on the computer and Lacey texted me: “This dog’s name is Happy.” She was a foster who had just had babies and she was at the Stafford County Animal Shelter.
We reached out directly and shared the Honey On Duty mission and they were so excited that they immediately said yes. Happy would be perfect.
We love that Happy isn’t only getting a second chance she’s being placed into a working role. We adopted her at exactly 8 weeks old. She already fits in, looks up to Honey, and she’s already brought laughs and smiles. I can tell she’s going to be a perfect addition to Honey’s legacy.
By the time she’s one year old, she’ll be on the road with Honey.

The Road to “On Duty”
Happy is growing into her role with structure, consistency, and love so by the time she’s one, she can travel with Honey and expand the mission responsibly.

Building the basics: bonding, routine, crate comfort, leash skills, calm greetings, and learning that the world is a safe place.
Public Manners & Focus
Practicing neutrality around distractions, settling in public spaces, and learning “work mode” the same calm, disciplined energy Honey is known for.
Travel Ready (With Honey)
Gradual exposure to travel routines so Happy can safely join the road team: cars, crowds, new environments, and eventually airports always at a pace that protects her development.
Honey’s Legacy, Happy’s Future
Honey built the mission. Happy is being raised inside it — so one day, when Honey retires from day-to-day work, the heart of the project keeps moving forward.
A successor in training
Happy is growing up with the same structure, consistency, and purpose that transformed Honey into the calm, trusted working dog she is today. From the very beginning, Happy has been learning what it means to show up with a steady heart — to bring comfort, joy, and safety wherever Stefan and the mission are needed.
As Happy gets older and her training matures, she will begin stepping into more of the day-to-day role with Stefan — traveling, visiting, and serving alongside Honey until she is fully ready.
And eventually, when Honey has earned her well-deserved retirement from daily work, Happy will be prepared to continue the mission in her place — not to “replace” Honey’s story, but to carry it forward.
Happy is Honey’s predecessor and successor — the next chapter of the legacy.

It started as a joke “perfect partners” with paw in front but the mission is real: second chances for dogs, and real working roles that help people heal. Honey and Happy are becoming the proof of concept: two big hearts, one purpose.
